The SAT is an entrance exam used by most colleges and universities for admissions and merit-based scholarships. There are four sections in this standardized test: Reading, Writing and Language, Math No Calculator, Math with Calculator, and an optional essay. The test is 3 hours without the essay and 3 hours and 50 minutes with the essay. The Math sections cover arithmetic, algebra I and II, geometry, trigonometry, and data analysis. The Writing and Language passages tend to vary in difficulty from early high school to early college. Overall, the SAT primarily assesses students' ability to reason and decipher the wording of the questions.
